Position Summary

We are currently seeking to appoint a Child and Family Services Family Counsellor to work as a part of our UnitingCare Central Qld Family Intervention Services Team based in our Emerald Office on a Part time Basis.

The Role:

This position provides a holistic response to the needs of each individual in the family and to the family unit as a whole, to families whose children are at imminent risk of out of home placement or requiring reunification following a period of out of home care to address issues relating to, but not limited to, child protection concerns. By providing practical and emotional support and counselling, families are offered opportunities to make informed decisions about, and change for their future.

About You:

In addition to the above you will also be required to have:

  • A tertiary qualification (minimum Bachelor Degree) in a relevant human services field with relevant experience in  previous  roles;  and  where  relevant  registration  with  a  nationally  recognised
  • Current Qld Driver Licence - Presentation of a current Drivers Licence must be made before your appointment to the position can be confirmed.
  • Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
  • The successful applicant must be eligible to legally work in Australia and proof of eligibility may be requested.
  • Previous experience working with or identification as a person of Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent highly regarded and are encouraged to apply

Essential: * Demonstrated ability to work co-operatively within a team; willingness to participate in shared on call responsibilities and ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
Essential: * Demonstrated ability to work in ways that are innovative, inclusive and culturally appropriate for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and culturally and linguistically diverse groups.
Essential: * Demonstrated ability to operate within a case management framework including the ability to manage and maintain client documentation and proficiency in the use of computer systems and software.
Essential: * Ability to work within the beliefs, mission, values and policies of UnitingCare and adhere to the provisions of the Workplace Health and Safety and other relevant Legislation as they apply to the region's services.
