Position Summary |
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Men's Group Counsellor who has skills and knowledge in the area of Domestic and Family Violence on a Part Time basis (45.6 hours per fortnight). Ideally the successful candidate will be available for three days per week, including one evening shift.
The successful applicant will have a sound knowledge of both trauma and attachment frameworks. The role will include working individually with men for the purpose of a pre group assessment, case reviews/conferences as well as group facilitation. This is a unique program run in co-facilitation with a female and male facilitator.
We are currently looking for a Male facilitator to join our Program.
To be a male is a genuine requirement for the position under Section 31 of the Anti-Discrimination Act, 1997.
What do you need to be successful in this role?
- Tertiary qualifications (minimum Bachelor) in a relevant human services field, with membership of an appropriate professional body (e.g. AASW, APS, PACFA Member Association) preferred
- Substantial experience working with children and families
- Experience in the area of child protection is preferred but not essential
- Blue Card for Child Related Employment
- Current Drivers Licence
Remuneration
base salary + super+ salary packaging + employee benefits

Selection Criteria |
Essential: Sound knowledge of and/or demonstrated ability to provide counselling and related services within a
therapeutic context with a range of clients and issues including, but not limited to family violence, sexual
abuse, child abuse, relationship discord and grief and loss. Essential: Sound theoretical understanding and highly developed clinical skills in the areas of domestic violence
and the effect of trauma and abuse on individuals and families, including children. Essential: Sound knowledge of and/or demonstrated ability in facilitating groups in compliance with Department of
Communities – QLD, Professional Practice Standards – Working with men who perpetrate Domestic and
Family Violence. Essential: Proven ability to work co-operatively within a multidisciplinary team in a complex human services
environment. Essential: Demonstrated commitment to personal/professional growth through supervision and participation in
professional development and ongoing training. Essential: Commitment to working within the beliefs, mission and values of UnitingCare and adhering
to policies and organisational requirements and processes.
Essential: Demonstrated high level of interpersonal, oral and written communication and advocacy skills. |
