UnitingCare Queensland, Child & Family Services is seeking a holistic Family Counsellor for their Targeted Family Support Service in Townsville on a full time basis.

Targeted Family Support provides support to families with teenage children, prioritising those engaged in high-risk behaviours in Townsville. Targeted Family Support aims to build the capacity of families to adequately nurture, protect and keep their children safe with the goal of improving the wellbeing and safety of children, young people and their families.

Some key responsibilities of this role are:

• Work holistically with families accessing the service, placing young people at the centre of planning
• Undertake all duties of case management such as assessment, counselling, case reviews, referrals and record keeping
• Deliver group workshops as required if appropriate

What do you need to be successful in this role?

•  Tertiary qualifications in Behavioural Sciences (eg. Psychology, Social Work etc.)
•  Previous experience working with families with “at risk” young people
•  Skills in rapidly building rapport and relationships with vulnerable and hard to reach clients
