The Opportunity:
UnitingCare Queensland's Disability Employment Service (DES) is funded by the Federal Government to assist job seekers with disability to gain and maintain sustainable employment within the open labour market.
We are currently seeking a motivated and inspiring Team Leader for our Lockyer Valley team. The role will be accountable for leading and exceeding the delivery of high-quality employment outcomes for people with a disability and contribute to overarching leadership functions across the Service.
In addition to the above you will also have responsibility for:
- Coach, manage and support a team of Employment Consultants by empowering them to reach their full potential and deliver required results and build a high-performance centric culture;
- Lead and manage the continuous improvement of all aspects of the program and seek out opportunities for expansion;
- Lead and manage the quality practice and exceed contractual compliance requirements, strong performance under the DES Star Ratings Framework and associated accreditation/licensing standards; and
- Create a values driven, safe employment environment that attracts, engages and retains skilled employees and volunteers;
About you:
This opportunity calls for an outstanding communicator with an ability to effectively engage with internal and external stakeholders including community members and organisations. We’re looking for someone who is values driven and passionate about a safe employment environment that attracts, engages and retains our clients, their families and skilled employees.
To addition, you will possess the following:
- 3 years + Leadership experience in a similar role and relevant qualifications in the Human Services, Community Services or related industry
- Demonstrated experience with internal and external reporting matrix’s and case management experience will be beneficial along with demonstrated experience in appropriately managing emergency or crisis situations.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage multi-disciplined service, with an understanding specifically of the Human Services sector including ideally, a comprehensive understanding of Disability, issues and practices and community development.
- Understanding of Community Services Sector levers, drivers & external forces.
- Understanding of key legislation and standards that exist at the Federal and State levels that impact on service delivery of related programs.
- A current Positive Notice from Disability Services, willingness to undergo a “Working with Children Check” and a Suitability Card (Blue Card) prior to commencing employment.
- Current CPR and First Aid Certificate.

| Selection Criteria |
Desirable: Well developed working knowledge of DES Program Guidelines, and a demonstrated ability to comply with contractual requirements and operational policies, procedures and work instructions in order to deliver outcome focused, culturally competent, strengths based, personally relevant services to custom Desirable: Demonstrated ability to provide guidance, support and development opportunities to a team of professionals in order deliver high quality services whilst achieving set performance targets in a highly competitive, fast paced and dynamic work environment. Desirable: Highly developed interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills with the ability to; communicate with influence, facilitate team meetings, develop effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and manage situations involving conflict. Desirable: Demonstrated ability to identify continuous improvement opportunities to enhance Service outputs and the effectiveness of operational processes. Desirable: Demonstrated ability to complete a range of reporting and administrative tasks within set timeframes with a high level of accuracy and confidentiality.
