Position Summary

At UnitingCare Qld we believe that everyone deserves the freedom to live their life their way with the support from family, community and Supported Living Facilitators (Disability Support Workers). Supported Living Facilitators support people to learn new skills, meet new people, manage their homes, access the community and all it has to offer and includes various levels of personal care. For some people it is about supporting them to meet the challenges the world presents to them. 

We are currently looking for Supported Living Facilitators (Disability Support Workers) to join teams across the Brisbane North region.  We have a number of positions available in the following areas:

  • Sandgate - We are looking for someone who enjoys sport and horse racing, can commit to 1 to 2 sleep over (S/O) and day shifts per fortnight, have a mature outlook on life and a calm and patient manner.
  • Petrie - We are looking for 2 people who can commit to both S/O shifts as well as day shifts, who enjoy crafts, shopping, walking, volunteering at a nursing home, personal care required
  • Nudgee - We are looking for people who are young but mature minded and pro-active to support 2 gentlemen learn the skills to live independently.
  • Western Suburbs - A young person to work with teenage boys facing challenges in their everyday life.  The supporter needs the ability to ‘blend’ into the family unit while working alongside young people who require both emotional support and skill building.  Blue Card Required
  • Chermside: We are looking for a number of people in this area who are:
  1. mature minded but young at heart person to join our team.  Mostly day shifts but at least 1 S/O per fortnight would be needed.
  2. if you are young and energetic – like loud cars and swimming we have the job for you.
  3. mature staff to support to older gentlemen to continue to live in their home.  A love of woodwork would be an advantage.
  4. mature but young at heart, like everything from clubbing to just hanging out having a coffee and doing a bit of painting.
  5. mature minded but fun and energetic, like swimming, going out, train travel
  6. proactive – self motivated persons who can work autonomously to support young people around skills building

All of these positions require both day and S/O supports and people who have some amount of flexibility in what they can do.

Casual Pool - We are looking for a number of people to work across multiple homes in the North

Brisbane area.  This would be a contracted position where there would be a variety of training and support needs.

About You

Our preference is that you will be someone who lives in or near the community where you work. You will have a strong desire to see others achieve their goals and dreams.

You will have the skills to work closely with the people, their families and  stakeholders as well as the rest of the supports team to ensure the best possible support is given at all times.    If you feel you have what it takes and the values to support someone that wants to get the most out of life please apply.  The role is Part Time.

To Be Successful

Before commencing with UnitingCare you will need to obtain a Senior First Aid Certificate, a NDIS Workers Orientation Certificate, and hold a Yellow Card or Blue Card if working with children.
