Position Summary

We are currently seeking to appoint a Family Worker to become a part of our UnitingCare Qld Child and Family Team on a Full time Basis working as a part of our Newpin Program Located in Cairns.

The Role:

This role is focused on working intensively and therapeutically within the Newpin model and Newpin core values and is informed by attachment, developmental and trauma informed practice.In this role you will provide centre based therapeutic support for families referred for the reunification of their child/ren. You will provide Centre based therapeutic support for families referred to support reunification of their child or children. This role will see you focus on working intensively and therapeutically within  attachment, developmental and  trauma informed frameworks.In this role you will also facilitate interventions for groups and individuals.

About You:

You will have a genuine commitment to support the reunification of families with previous experience working with children and families who have been impacted by trauma or are currently engaged in the child protection system. Supplementing this you will have tertiary qualification such as a Degree within Social Work, psychology, welfare or social science with a minimum of 2 years practical experience providing therapeutic support or alternatively a Diploma level qualification in Social Welfare or community services with a minimum of 3 years' experience providing therapeutic support. You will also have a driver's license and a working with children blue card (or the ability to obtain).

Previous experience working with or as a part of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community is an inherent requirement of this role, in addition due to the occupational requirements of this role it is very much desirable that the successful applicant also identifies as apart of the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community although this is not essential.
