We are currently seeking a motivated and experienced Service Leader to join our Older Peron's team on a Fixed Term Part Time basis.  Located at Chermside, the role will require you to operationally manage the Elder Abuse Prevention Unit.  

In partnership with another Service Leader you will also support the Senior's Enquiry Line, Senior's Housing Infoline and Time for Grandparents Programs as required.  You will be responsible for the supervision and coordination of staff to ensure the delivery of high quality and safe phone based services for clients, the coordination and management of delegated business support responsibilities and the management of internal and external relationships, including overseeing and participating in community education workshops, reference groups and specialised panels.

The Role:

In this role you will:

  • Lead and coordinate a team to deliver high quality phone support for individual's/families experiencing elder abuse; taking into consideration assessment of all risk indicators and any strategies to limit risk and ensure safety.
  • Be responsible for coordinating and scheduling community awareness activities and network development across the state.
  • Supervise and support the development of team members through reflective participatory practices, including supervision and case reviews, performance planning, training and development.
  • Be required to collate data and reporting against contractual agreements.
  • Have the ability to apply a sound level of professional knowledge in counselling related fields including mental health and wellbeing, domestic and family violence and grief and loss.
  • Have knowledge of trauma response, critical incident debriefing and community development.

About You:

You will also have demonstrated previous experience in a similar role including team development and support, extensive knowledge and understanding of phone based work and community education, have a well developed understanding of elder abuse and be passionate about making a difference in the lives of vulnerable people. You will have a positive attitude, as well as resilience and the ability to work with people in crisis.

In addition to the above you will ideally hold a Tertiary qualification or equivalent in a field related to community services, a current blue card (or be willing to obtain) and an open Australian driver’s license. You also require a good working knowledge of risk management principles and practices including the ability to identify areas of concern or potential risk, particularly in relation to the safety of staff and clients, with child safety being paramount.
