The Opportunity:

UnitingCare's Employment Service is a Disability Employment Service funded by the Australian Government is assist job seekers with a disability to gain and maintain suitable employment within the open labour market.

We are currently seeking a motivated Employment Consultant to join our Toowoomba based team to assist in the provision of services to job seekers and local businesses. This role is responsible for:

  • Building relationships with employers and source job opportunities for our job seekers to gain and maintain meaningful and sustainable employment.
  • Assessing the needs of disadvantaged job seekers with disability, injury or health conditions and providing a broad range of services and supports to assist job seekers prepare for, gain and maintain sustainable employment opportunities; and
  • Engaging with local employers regarding their recruitment needs and referring suitably skilled and experienced job seekers to available vacancies, with the aim of achieving sustainable employment outcomes.

About you:

This opportunity calls for an outstanding communicator with an ability to effectively engage with internal and external stakeholders including community members and organisations. We’re looking for someone who is values driven and passionate about a safe employment environment that attracts, engages and retains our clients, their families and skilled employees.

To addition, you will possess the following:

  • A passion for assisting people to gain employment and enhance their careers
  • Demonstrated experience in business development, marketing and promoting an Employment Service to employers by developing and maintaining partnerships with potential and current employers, in order to generate increased sustainable employment opportunities
  • Demonstrated case management experience in the Disability Sector or similar
  • Demonstrated sound understanding of the local labour market
  • Experience working to and achieving KPI’s and milestones
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver high level processes with a comprehensive working knowledge of technology in particular the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Demonstrated knowledge or the willingness to understand the application of the principles of Project SEARCH Model Fidelity, NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Framework and National Standards for Disability Services.
  • A current Positive Notice from Disability Services, willingness to undergo a “Working with Children Check” and a Suitability Card (Blue Card) prior to commencing employment.
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certificate.

Selection Criteria Desirable: Demonstrated experience in successful, culturally sensitive case management practices and knowledge of delivering employment services to people with a disability, or the ability to rapidly acquire such knowledge.
Desirable: Demonstrated experience and proven aptitude for reverse marketing, cold calling and building strong working relationships with external customers resulting in the achievement of key performance indicators.
Desirable: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work within organisational systems with proficiency in preparing documentation and maintain records.
Desirable: Ability to plan, organise and manage personal workloads effectively to met set targets and business priorities in a fast paced, challenging environment.
Desirable: Ability to work co-operatively and effectively in a team environment and contribute to the achievement of business objectives.
