The Opportunity

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Men’s Domestic and Family Violence Facilitator and Counsellor who has exceptional skills and knowledge in the area of Domestic and Family Violence to join our Fraser Coast team on a part-time basis of 8 hours per fortnight. The role is co-facilitating UnitingCare's men's behaviour change program to men who have already been assessed as suitable for the 16 weeks group.

This is a unique co-facilitation program position required male applicants only. This is a genuine qualification under Section 25 and 26 of the Queensland Anti-Discrimination Act 1991.

 

What you’ll need

  • Tertiary qualification (minimum Bachelor) in a relevant human services field
  • Exceptional skills and knowledge in the area of Domestic and Family Violence
  • Significant knowledge and skilled application of frameworks and practice models which encourage attitudinal and behavioural changes
  • Ability to work therapeutically with adults experiencing complex issues from a broad range of intellectual abilities, motivational levels, health profiles and cultural and socio-economic backgrounds
  • Experience working with mandated or potentially resistant clients preferred but not essential
  • Experience in facilitating relevant group work
  • Substantial experience working with children and families
  • Experience in the area of child protection is preferred but not essential
  • Blue Card for Child Related Employment
  • Current Drivers Licence
  • Registration or eligible membership with an appropriate professional body (e.g., AASW; APS; PACFA Member Association) will be highly regarded
