The Opportunity

In partnership with Queensland Government our Family Support Service programs are funded to provide support to vulnerable families with children and young people where domestic and family-based violence is impacting on safety and security.

We are currently seeking a Service Leader to join our Family Support team based in Emerald on a full-time basis. In this position, you will manage the day-to-day operations of our Emerald Hub and Family Support programs. You will provide professional leadership to employees with emphasis on delivery of high quality, best practice service delivery and be committed to undertake training as part of our organisation’s commitment to ‘Safe and Together’ model and framework.

You will work closely with the regions broader Intensive Family Support Team working across Central Queensland, whilst specifically coordinating the day-to-day operations of the Emerald Intensive Family Support Service (IFSS) as well as the Remote Family support services (RFS) and provide professional leadership to employees with emphasis on delivery of high quality, best practice service delivery.

Whilst the position will be based in Emerald you will be required to undertake some travel to provide support to the following programs and communities:

  • IFSS Emerald and Longreach
  • RFS Mt Morgan/Emerald/Hughenden surrounds - based in Townsville.
  • Linking with Woorabinda Community

What you'll need

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field (e.g. Social Work, Psychology or Social Science) 
  • Significant experience providing services to children and families
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, policy and licensing requirements associated with Domestic Violence and Child Protection
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Current Drivers Licence
  • Working with Children Check (Blue Card)

Selection Criteria Essential: Tertiary Qualification in a relevant (e.g., Social Work, Psychology or Social Science) as required by relevant service contract/s
Essential: Current Driver Licence
Essential: Current Positive Blue Card
Essential: Significant working experience in providing services to children and families.
Essential: Knowledge of relevant legislation, policy and licensing requirements associated with line of service.
Essential: Demonstrated experience in leading a team to achieve service performance outcomes together with an ability to provide quality supervision and training.
Essential: Thorough understanding of program management principles and techniques.
Essential: Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
Essential: Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective systems, procedures and processes within prescribed policies and guidelines.
Desirable: Experience in a service delivery management role.
Desirable: Demonstrated ability to work in ways that are innovative, inclusive and culturally appropriate for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and culturally and linguistically diverse groups.
Desirable: Demonstrated commitment to personal/professional growth by keeping abreast of relevant social issues and trends.
Essential: Demonstrated skills and sound knowledge gained through substantial experience working with children and families.
Essential: Knowledge of risk management principles including the ability to identify areas of current or potential risk, particularly in relation to ensuring the safety of clients and employees.
Essential: Highly developed interpersonal and communication frameworks and practices, that are congruent with a strengths approach and demonstrate professional integrity, with respect to such matters as confidentiality and client interests.
Essential: Excellent knowledge of MS Office.
Desirable: Sound understanding of budget management principles.
