Position Summary

Are you passionate about improving the lives of children in the child protection system? We are seeking an enthusiastic, resilient, self-motivated and reliable person for a Casual Youth Worker position in our Emerald Out of Home Care team.  Ideally you would have some experience in working with youth, with residential experience a distinct advantage. An understanding of the practical care of traumatised children is required as well as some understanding of why children come into the care system.  Applicants must be available to work overnight shifts including some weekends as we operate a 24/7 roster.

What do you need to be successful in this role?

  • Current Blue Suitability Card (or willing to apply for one)
  • A Qld Driver’s Licence (must be open and valid licence – to be confirmed prior to offer of employment)
  • A Senior First Aid Certificate (must be valid and hold prior to employment)
  • A Disability Services Qld History Check (or willing to apply for one 

Remuneration

base salary + super+ salary packaging

Selection Criteria Essential: Minimum Certificate 111 Community Services - Youth Work study sufficient to perform duties at this level and/or relevant experience which has developed the skills required for working with young people with challenging behaviours
Essential: Ability to develop nurturing and mentoring relationsjhips with young people who have experienced trauma and attachment issues and have challenging behaviours and the ability to acquire knowledge of the emotional and developmental needs, with particular reference to trauma and attachment
Essential: Demonstrated experience and/or willingness to contribute to the development of clear household routines, structures, boundaries and activities for the individual young people.
Essential: Demonstrated ability to be an active participant in the staff team as well as the capacity to work autonomously
