The Position

St John of God Murdoch Hospital in conjunction with the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia is currently seeking a Prostate Cancer Specialist Nurse (PCSN) to work in partnership across all health areas and be a pivotal contact point for continuity of care for men diagnosed with prostate cancer.

The successful candidate will have advanced clinical experience in prostate care nursing (and/or oncology/urology), high level communication and interpersonal skills with the skills to support and coordinate patient care from diagnosis through surgery, the post-operative period, and discharge from hospital back to the community.

This position will be offered on a fixed term (3-year) contract, working 76 hours per fortnight.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Ability to work within and contribute to the Mission and Values of St John of God Health Care.
  • Current registration with Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse.
  • Relevant postgraduate qualifications in prostate care nursing, or commitment to working towards same.
  • Relevant experience in advanced practice with respect to management of patients with prostate cancer (and/or oncology/urology nursing experience).
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver quality patient care.
  • Demonstrated commitment to working within a quality management framework.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in and with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • High-level interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to occupational health and safety in the workplace.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of health care education; experience in the development and delivery of education programs to patients, carers, and the community and health professionals.
