St John of God Social Outreach, Raphael Services operates across Western Australia, Victoria and New South Wales to support individuals and families who are affected by mental health issues from pregnancy up until the child is four years of age.  Services are provided at low or no cost to all clients who can be referred from any part of the community. 

The services are currently entering an exciting period of growth underpinned by our strategy to become a leading provider of perinatal and infant mental health care secondary services in Australia. 

An opportunity exists for a perinatal and infant Psychiatrist to join the team located in WA. The hub is located in Wembley and other service locations include Midland, Fremantle, Cockburn and soon to open Merriwa and Joondalup. Telehealth services are planned for the future into rural and remote locations. Our Raphael Services Psychiatrists provide comprehensive psychiatric care to clients including mums, dads and their families during the perinatal period. 

The successful candidate will report clinically to the Clinical Lead Psychiatrist and play an important role in the delivery of community-based mental health services from a variety of service locations. Raphael Services provides early intervention counselling, therapy and support from conception to baby’s fourth birthday, enabling parents in the Western Australia community to thrive emotionally, mentally and as a family. Visit our website sjog.org.au/raphael 

This position is being offered on a permanent part time basis working 2 days per week commencing in July 2019. 

The successful candidate will have: 

  • Ability to work within and contribute to the Mission and Values of St John of God Health Care
  • Current Specialist medical registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA)
  • Fellowship with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists
  • Specialist training and experience in perinatal and infant mental health
  • Demonstrated clinical skills in mental health including ability to provide supervision, secondary specialist liaison and consultation
  • High level written, verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively within a multidisciplinary team where input from different professions is valued and respected
