St John of God Health Care is one of the largest Catholic providers of health care services in Australia. We operate 24 facilities comprising more than 3,400 hospital beds in Australia, as well as home nursing, disability services and social outreach programs.
With a total of 367 beds, 307 for public patients and 60 for private patients, St John of God Midland Public & Private Hospitals is conveniently located within one complex, bringing health care closer to home.
An opportunity exists for an experienced Anaesthetist to provide specialist anaesthetic services in general adult, paediatric and obstetric anaesthesia.
Anaesthetic Department
- 12 operating theatres
- On par to exceed 12,000 cases annually
- Excellent, varied case-mix providing a broad clinical experience, including paediatrics, obstetrics, general surgery, orthopaedics, plastics, urology, gynaecology, ENT, ophthalmology and gastroenterology
- 12 bed ICU/HDU support
- 24 hour near site anaesthetic consultant after hours cover
The successful candidate will promote patient quality and safety and provide leadership, training, supervision and education to doctors in training, Health Service Medical Practitioners and other health workers.
Positions are being offered on a seven month fixed term part time contract (60 hours a fortnight) and a permanent part time contract (70 hours a fortnight). You will be required to undertake clinical shifts as directed which includes participation on the on-call / after-hours / weekend roster.
The successful candidate will have:
- A willingness and capacity to embrace the Mission and Values of St John of God Health Care.
- Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists.
- Eligibility for full registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a specialist in Anaesthetics.
- Demonstrated substantial clinical experience in the management of high acuity patients in a complex hospital environment, including Paediatric and Obstetric Anaesthesia.
- Evidence of career long education and professional development.
- Demonstrated experience in teaching at registrar or fellowship level.
