Critical Care Supported Transition to Excellence Program (STEP) 2019-2020

Part Time, Fixed Term

 

Northern Health is a dynamic health service, providing vital public healthcare to residents of Melbourne’s northern suburbs and the surrounding regional communities. Our campuses offer services to a diverse community across acute, subacute, ambulatory and community programs.

 

The Northern Health Intensive Care Unit consists of 18 beds with 10 fully funded ICU beds. The team are passionate and dedicated about providing progressive and outstanding health care to their patients. A new state of the art 18 bed ICU deliver outstanding health care to Melbourne’s expanding north, opened in March 2019. The ICU provides an innovative, progressive, supportive, knowledge enriched environment.

 

An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic and motivated Registered Nurse to advance their nursing careers in our STEP program that will run from June 3rd to Jan 19th 2020.

 

About you:

  • Enthusiasm with a minimum of one year acute medical and/or surgical experience (inclusive of a Graduate Nurse Year),
  • Commitment to a 6 month supported program facilitated by the ICU education team with clinical support by the ICU education team and staff within the intensive care unit,
  • Application to comprehensive theoretical and clinical concepts to assist the transition of learnt theory to the bedside,
  • An application of knowledge and skills required to look after critically ill patients via structured study days, clinical placement in the department, and clinical hurdle requirements.
