Obstetrics & Gynaecology Unaccredited Registrar

Full Time, Fixed Term


Northern Health is a dynamic health service, providing vital public healthcare to residents of Melbourne’s northern suburbs and the surrounding regional communities. Our five campuses offer services to a vastly diverse community at all stages of life. 


The Northern Hospital Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology provides broad-based training and experience in general Obstetrics and Gynaecology and is a training site for the Diploma and Advanced Diploma in Obstetrics of the RANZCOG. There are approximately 3000 births per year.


About the role:


The Unaccredited Registrar provides training and support to the Registrars and HMOs in this busy Unit. As well as providing training and support to all levels, you are responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the Department, including ensuring adequate roster and leave coverage. 


In addition, you will provide appropriate care to inpatients and public outpatients of the Unit/Department and in addition provide a consultative service for patients of other units or departments. You will also ensure supervision of the junior medical officers and provide support for the senior medical staff in the care of the Unit/Department’s patients. 


O&G provides care in the Antenatal and Postnatal Ward and participate in acute Delivery Suite duties. You also have the opportunity to gain experience in Antenatal Clinics, Gynaecology Outpatients and Theatre and participate in the departmental teaching programme.
