Head of Unit Obstetrics

A permanent full time Obstetrician and Gynaecological Specialist is required to join the current Obstetrics and Gynaecology team as Head of Unit Obstetrics.  Supporting a team of 9 VMOs and a full time Divisional Director, who provide in-hours care and on-call service for a wide range of gynaecological patients and approximately 3000 public births per year.

The specialists are supported by 9 registrars and 10 HMO positions.  Outpatient services and surgery are also provided at other campuses of Northern Hospital.

The Northern Hospital in Epping Melbourne services Melbourne's rapidly expanding northern suburbs and has close links with the Royal Melbourne Hospital and the Mercy Hospital in Melbourne.  There are opportunities to become involved in research activities.

The Northern Hospital is a teaching Hospital and the specialists are involved with post graduate training of registrars and teaching of medical students from the University of Melbourne.

It is expected that the incumbent work closely with and be supportive of the midwives.
