Respiratory Consultant

Part Time, Ongoing

Northern Health is a growing, dynamic health service, providing vital public healthcare to residents of Melbourne’s northern suburbs and the surrounding regional communities. Our campuses offer services to a diverse community across acute, subacute, ambulatory and community programs. 

We are looking for a passionate and enthusiastic Respiratory Physician who is suitably qualified to fill a permanent part-time position (0.3 EFT + 0.1 privately billed clinic).

This particular role involves:

  • 0.2 EFT General Respiratory Clinics – Monday PM and Thursday PM
  • 0.1 EFT Oxygen Clinic – Tuesday PM
  • 0.1 Privately billed Lung Mass Clinic – Thursday AM

About the role:

  • Support and assist the Respiratory Medicine Unit Head in the provision of high quality medical services at Northern Health, consistent with Northern Health values.
  • Provide clinical leadership through active involvement in patient care.
  • Participate in audit and other quality activities and committees, in particular, involvement and participation in Morbidity, Mortality and Adverse event audits
  • Be available to medical colleagues for consultation and liaison as appropriate regarding patient care.
  • Be immediately available for urgent consultation and assistance in resuscitation and subsequent management of critically ill or injured patients.
  • Contribute to the professional and corporate life of Northern Health by participation in appropriate committees and fora.
  • Contribute to ongoing service improvement and clinical and workforce innovation to ensure Northern Health provides high quality accessible Respiratory Services within allocated resources and meets the needs of Northern Health patients.
  • Support academic, research, education, training & supervision (both medical and nursing undergraduates and postgraduates) roles in the medical Unit.

Credentialing and Scope of Practice:

The appointee must participate in the Credentialing and Scope of Practice process at Northern Health by completing the Credentialing and Scope of Clinical Practice applications via the electronic credentialing system - CGov prior to interview.

Credentialing and Scope of Clinical Practice will be reviewed on a regular basis in line with Northern Health policy.
