Position/s are available for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Consultant/s at the Northern Health. Interest and experience in Hand Surgery and Microsurgery are required. In addition, this role will have a component of non-clinical work including, but not exclusive to, quality initiatives, teaching and research. Participation in the on call roster and flexibility to cover leaves is also required.


About the role:

  • Support and assist the Plastic & Hand Surgery Head of Unit in the provision of high quality medical services at Northern Health, consistent with Northern Health values.
  • Provide clinical leadership through active involvement in patient care.
  • Participate in audit and other quality activities and committees, in particular, involvement and participation in Morbidity, Mortality and Adverse event audits
  • Be available to medical colleagues for consultation and liaison as appropriate regarding patient care.
  • Be immediately available for urgent consultation and assistance in resuscitation and subsequent management of critically ill or injured patients.
  • Support the Plastic & Hand Surgery Unit’s outreach services within Northern Health.
  • Contribute to the professional and corporate life of Northern Health by participation in appropriate committees and fora.
  • Contribute to ongoing service improvement and clinical and workforce innovation to ensure Northern Health provides high quality accessible Plastic & Hand Surgery Unit’s services within allocated resources and meets the needs of Northern Health patients.
  • Promote teaching sessions and tutes for HMS in the unit and in collaboration with other units
  • Support academic, research, education, training & supervision (both medical and nursing undergraduates and postgraduates) roles in the Plastic & Hand Surgery Unit. 
  •  Participate in the Plastic & Hand Surgery Unit on-call roster.
