Northern Health is one of Victoria’s busiest public health services. Our acute and sub-acute health services cover a local community of approximately 728,000 people and our emergency department is the busiest in the state with 23,503 presentations between April and June 2017.

The northern community is located in one of Melbourne's most significant growth corridors and our local population is expected to grow by 64% or an additional 128,569 people by 2031. The Northern Health catchment encompasses the rapidly expanding local government areas of Banyule, Darebin, Hume, Nillumbik, Whittlesea and Moreland.

An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic, experienced and highly motivated Health Information Manager to cover the role of Northern Health Coding Coordinator on a fixed term arrangement.

This position is responsible for the provision of coding training and education to the  Northern Health coding team and assisting with the auditing program for the Clinical Coding Service.

As a member of the senior coding team, the successful applicant will provide leadership in achieving and upholding Northern Health’s vision, mission and values.

Essential:

 

-       Eligible for full membership with HIMAA

-       Effective communication and management skills

-       Coding experience of at least 5 years using ICD-10-AM and up to date coding skills

-       Bachelor of Health Information Management.

-       Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of staff including external associates.

-       Ability to work to deadlines.

-       Ability to work in a team environment.

-       Demonstrated knowledge of casemix funding and coding systems.

-       Extensive coding experience

 

 

 

Desirable:

 

-       Successful completion of La Trobe University- Short Course in Clinical Coding Auditing.
