Council is seeking a highly motivated individual to lead the dynamic Open Space Design and Development Unit. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a team to deliver significant strategies, policies, programs and projects.

You will have a wide range of knowledge and experience in developing, implementing and monitoring policies and initiatives to plan, design, develop and conserve quality open space for the City of Moreland. This role will require the capacity to build and maintain strong relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders including strong engagement with the community.

Candidates will have a proven track record in managing teams, project management in the field of open space as well as possess qualifications in one or more areas of Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, Open Space Planning or related disciplines and/ or relevant experience in the public realm and Local Government environment.

Selection Criteria Essential: 1. Significant experience in open space project design, management and delivery, including strategic open space planning, natural resource management, and capital works projects.

Essential: 2. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement capital works programs and manage associated performance of agreements

Essential: 3. Ability to proactively lead and inspire staff to work with a team spirit, focused on and committed to organisational goals and objectives.

Essential: 4. Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and report on strategy and policy

Essential: 5. Ability to prepare and implement a reporting framework on performance and measuring against program and service levels

Essential: 6. Experience in testing and measuring alignment of service levels with community expectations

Essential: 7. An understanding of key relevant legislation and regulatory requirements, including OH&S, Local Government Act, etc.

Essential: 8. Ability to prepare program budgets and achieve budget targets.
