Moreland City Council is offering a fantastic opportunity for a Team Leader Environmental Health who enjoys contact with the community and working with a dynamic team to deliver important health and wellbeing initiatives. 

Key aspects of this role include providing effective oversight of Environmental Health Officer workload to achieve annual performance objectives, assisting with the implementation of the Environmental Health Service Unit Plan, reviewing infringement and prosecution briefs and developing a constructive, positive culture within the Environmental Health Unit by providing leadership, support and guidance.

The successful candidate will have experience and expertise in interpreting Environmental Health legislation, initiating and implementing appropriate enforcement action and leading and mentoring a team of Environmental Health Officers.

To be successful in this role, you are required to have Bachelor of Applied Science (Environmental Health) or equivalent.

Selection Criteria Essential: A tertiary qualification in Applied Science (Environmental Health) or equivalent

Essential: Extensive knowledge and understanding of Environmental Health legislation and associated codes of practice and the ability to interpret and explain such legislation.

Essential: Demonstrated ability to manage time, set priorities and plan and organise one's own work and where appropriate that of other employees, so as to achieve specific and set objectives in the most efficient way possible within the resources available and within a set timetable despite conflicting pressu

Essential: The ability apply analytical and investigative skills to Environmental Health issues, to enable the formulation of policy and procedure options within a Council framework.

Essential: Sound understanding of compliance focused Environmental Health work and the various means of obtaining compliance.

Essential: Demonstrated knowledge of court practices and processes, including experience providing evidence in Environmental Health related matters.

Essential: Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and develop other employees.

Essential: Highly developed written, negotiation and other communication skills.

Essential: Current drivers licence.
