Moreland City Council is located in the inner northern suburbs of Melbourne and is one of the most populous and culturally diverse municipalities.  Located in Coburg, the Moreland City Council offices are just 8km from the CBD and are easily accessible by public transport or cycling.


A key focus of this position will be to work closely with community sport and recreation organisations to address their developmental needs and enhance the level of service that they provide to residents. Key responsibilities will include being a key Council contact for sport and recreation organisations, developing and maintaining forums with sport and recreation groups to address common issues, developing effective communication systems and playing a lead role in the allocation of Council’s sporting facilities.


  • Tertiary qualification in Sport / Leisure / Recreation Management or associated discipline
  • Knowledge of the community sporting sector

Selection Criteria Essential: Tertiary Qualification in Sports Management, Recreation, Leisure Studies or a related discipline.

Essential: Experience in the coordination of sporting facilities or working within the sport and recreation industry.

Essential: Demonstrated well-developed written communication skills, including external funding applications, council reports, development & preparation of recreation related information for publication on Council’s website and relevant publications

Essential: Competency in the use of computer applications such as Microsoft Office, TRIM, Pathway (CRS) and social media platforms including website publication.

Essential: Experience and skills in engaging and working with sporting clubs, state/local sporting associations, service providers, community organisations, schools and local residents.
