Position Summary

Latrobe Regional Hospital (LRH) is the largest hospital in Gippsland providing a broad range of nursing, midwifery, specialist medical, surgical, psychiatric, oncology, paramedical, radiological and pathology services.

Latrobe Community Health Service (LCHS) was established in February 1995 and is now a major primary health care provider in the Latrobe Valley and Gippsland. LCHS aims to reduce disease and illness through prevention, health promotion and social, physical and cultural change.

Positions exist for Registered Nurses to enter the Graduate Nurse Program in an extended setting in 2018. This is a collaborative Graduate Nurse Program between Latrobe Regional Hospital & Latrobe Community Health Service.

The positions are fixed term part time with one intake, commencing on 14 May 2018.

The program has been developed to allow the new graduate experience in an acute hospital and community setting. This will enable the graduate to practice health care provision throughout the trajectory of illness, including primary/preventative health care, acute inpatient care, and care in the patient’s own environment. The graduate will receive clinical support from clinical educators and preceptors, and participate in seven formal paid study days, incorporating topics to enhance both clinical and professional development.

The program consists of three, four-month rotations. Eight months will be at LRH in the medical/surgical and the medical/palliative care units and four months will be at LCHS in district nursing and community palliative care.

Applicants must apply on-line by the 21 July 2017 through the Postgraduate Medical Council of Victoria Nurse Computer Match as well as on-line directly to Latrobe Regional Hospital.
