Position Summary

Latrobe Regional Hospital (LRH) is the largest hospital in the Gippsland region, situated 160km east of Melbourne. The Hospital has an extensive range of clinical specialties, and has a strong ongoing commitment to education and development.

Yarram District Health Service (YDHS) provides a broad range of health-care services, centred at the Yarram Hospital which has 20 Inpatient beds, 3 Dialysis day-chairs, an Urgent Care Department, Yarram Medical Practice and a diverse range of Allied Health and community-based programs including District nursing, Palliative care and Diabetic Education.

Positions exist for Registered Nurses to enter the Graduate Nurse Program in an extended setting in 2018. This is a collaborative Graduate Nurse Program between Latrobe Regional Hospital and Yarram & District Health Service.

The program has been developed to allow the new graduate experience in two acute hospitals, one in a regional and the other in a rural setting, combined with a community rotation. This will enable the graduate to practice health care provision throughout the trajectory of illness, including primary/preventative health care, acute inpatient care, and care in the patient’s own environment. The graduate will receive clinical support from clinical educators and preceptors, and participate in seven formal paid study days, incorporating topics to enhance both clinical and professional development.

The program consists of two, six-month rotations. Six months will be at LRH in the medical unit and six months will be at YDHS in acute medical, outpatients department, and district nursing and community palliative care.

Applicants must be registered by the start of the program with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Participants in previous Graduate Programs are ineligible to apply.

The positions are fixed term part time with one intake, commencing on 14 May 2018.

Applicants must apply on-line by 21 July 2017 through the Postgraduate Medical Council of Victoria Nurse Computer Match website, as well as on-line directly to Latrobe Regional Hospital. Three Recent Clinical Appraisals and the Application Document are to be attached as part of the application. Applicants who are ineligible to apply through Nurse Computer Match may still apply to the hospital on-line. It is desirable that applicants address the Selection Criteria as outlined in the on-line position advertisement.
