GV Health are excited to offer multiple Graduate Mental Health Nurse positions in 2021. 

The Position
The Graduate Mental Health Nurse positions are a 12 month program which allows opportunity for newly registered nurses to develop skills and experience in mental health nursing while working in a well-supported environment across a range of mental health service settings.

What we are looking for?
The successful applicant will have well-developed communication skills both written and verbal and be able to work within a team environment. They should have some understanding and interest in working in mental health settings including awareness of recovery focused care, consumer and family participation and the Victorian Mental Health Act 2014. In addition the successful applicant will have time management and problem-solving skills, the ability to prioritise tasks and work under minimal supervision.  A sound knowledge of computer based software applications including Word/Excel/database management systems is also required.

The main campus is the major acute referral site for the sub region.

Essential: Two clinical placement reports including one mental health placement uploaded
Essential: Strong communication and interpersonal skills (written and verbal)
Essential: Attention to detail to ensure accuracy and completeness of records, reports and documentation
Essential: Time management skills and the ability to use critical reasoning to plan and prioritise work
Essential: Knowledge of the principles of recovery orientated care in mental health
Essential: Basic knowledge of managing risk in working in mental health settings
Essential: Basic understanding of the Victorian Mental Health Act 2014
Essential: Potential for future commitment to Goulburn Valley Health as an employee in mental health field with demonstrated desire for ongoing education
Essential: Satisfactory National Criminal History Record Check, Victorian Employee Working with Children Check and completion of a Commonwealth of Australia Statutory Declaration prior to commencement of employment
