About the position

Located in the Transport and Infrastructure directorate, Transport and Traffic branch, this position requires a suitably-experienced individual with a background in civil engineering design and/or construction and/or planning. This position requires an extensive experience in the issuing and assessing of tenders for engineering consultancies and experience in the assessment of development applications, the imposition of transport infrastructure conditions and the creation of infrastructure agreements.

Key deliverables of the position:

  • Create, issue and assess tenders for the appointment of engineering consultancies in accordance with the City's procurement policy and procedures.
  • Provide high level advice in relation to development applications including prelodgement meetings, information requests and imposition of transport network conditions.
  • Interpret and provide expert advice in relation to transport infrastructure design documentation including plans, estimates and specifications.
  • Provide expert advice in relation to transport infrastructure agreements including ability to negotiate and interpret terms and implement and assess compliance of the agreement clauses.
  • Manage a number of cases simultaneously including compliance with procedures, business rules and performance measure targets.
  • Apply a high level of written and verbal communication skills and work efficiently and effectively in an autonomous environment.
  • Work in an area of high prescription and constant change.

About you

You have a background in civil engineering design and/or construction and/or town planning, have extensive experience in the issuing and assessing of tenders for engineering consultancies and experience in the assessment of development applications, the imposition of transport infrastructure conditions and the creation of infrastructure agreements along with a very high level of written and oral communication skills.

About us

Transport and Infrastructure directorate is ultimately here to deliver quality infrastructure and services that align with the broader organisation vision and purpose. The directorate consists of asset custodians, service providers and business support roles that all contribute to the overall management, delivery and maintenance of quality infrastructure and services.

  • The Transport and Traffic branch is responsible for the planning, operational management and delivery of enhancements to the City of Gold Coast's transport network. With around 150 staff across four units, the branch oversees an annual budget over $110million to deliver capital works, supporting operational projects and planning initiatives.
  • Transport and Traffic work under the strategic intent of the City of Gold Coast's Corporate Plan and implements the Gold Coast City Transport Strategy 2031. This framework seeks to ensure the city has a safe and efficient transport system which is responsive to the needs of the community and supports the achievement of economic, environmental and social objectives.
  • The branch works closely with many delivery partners, including the City's development and land use planning teams and the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads to plan and manage the transport system as 'one network'.

The Selection Process
