About the Position

The Cyber Security Officer reports to the Information Technology Security Advisor as part of the City's Cyber Security Office. The Cyber Security Officer is responsible for the governance, assurance, and cyber security operations across the City's various network environments including ICT and SCADA systems. The role is focused on internal stakeholders and ensuring that the City is managing cyber risk appropriately.

Key Deliverables of the position:

The Cyber Security Officer, working closely with the Cyber Security Office team, will be responsible for:

  • Establishing the Cyber Security Office as the trusted advisor for cyber security
  • Performing cyber risk assessments across the City's technology environments
  • Assisting with the management of the City's cyber security training, awareness, and phishing programs
  • Using security technologies to monitor the City's networks and systems for suspicious activity
  • Performing vulnerability management activity across the City's networks and systems
  • Supporting ICT operations and security operations processes and procedures
  • Supporting the management of the City's Managed Security Service Provider
  • Supporting cyber incident response capabilities

About You

The successful applicant will have a strong foundation in security technologies. The successful applicant also has a solid understanding of cyber security methodologies and frameworks. The ability to communicate technical cyber security risks in business terms is a skill that will serve the successful applicant well.

Industry cyber security certifications are highly desirable but not required immediately. At a minimum, it is expected that the successful applicant is able to achieve entry level cyber security certifications (e.g. SSCP) within 12 months of commencement.
