About the Position

This position provides high level assistance and support to the Parks and Recreational Services Management team through the provision of advice, coordination and project management.  A core feature of the role will be supporting projects relating to the improvement of the branch’s performance.  The position will be required to liaise with People and Culture and assist the Parks and Recreational Services Management group with the coordination of Human Resource activities for the Branch.

This is a fixed-term opportunity until mid February 2021

Key Deliverables of the position:

  • Provide quality support and assistance to the Parks Management team through a diverse range of administrative activities including collating and analysing information for the development and implementation of operational policies, projects, strategies and initiatives relevant to the Branch.
  • Monitor expenditure for relevant programs and projects to identify variations to budget and other anomalies and bring same to the attention of appropriate officers.
  • Assist the management team by reviewing reports and correspondence, coordinating branch activities and implementing steps to ensure follow up action is undertaken.
  • In consultation with the People & Culture Branch provide advice, support and coordination to the Management team in relation to human resource matters in order to enhance staff performance and address HR issues.
  • Research information and prepare relevant documentation and reports as required by the Management team.
  • Assist in the development of management systems, processes and procedures associated with a diverse range of management initiatives across the branch and organisation.
  • Establish and maintain reports, files and other documentation whilst taking particular regard to confidentiality and sensitivity of such documentation.
  • On behalf of the Management Team perform regular audits of leave.
  • Support Coordinators through the analysis of data and provision of advice to ensure the Branch meets organisational objectives in relation to people management including leave and other HR requirements.

About You

  • You possess well-developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, including:
    • an ability to appropriately deal with matters of a sensitive and confidential nature;
    • an ability to consult, negotiate and mediate with a range of people at all levels;
    • an ability to develop strong internal and external partnerships/relationships;
    • incorporating a strong customer service focus in all communication activity.
  • Ability to exercise judgement, utilise initiative to analyse tasks and take appropriate action in situations where procedures are not clearly defined.
  • High level computer literacy and keyboard skills and competent proficiency in the use of Microsoft applications, in particular Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint as well as Business Intelligence, Arc Map and SAP
  • Ability to provide high level technical knowledge and skills in the area of processes and administration in order to coordinate branch objectives including performance management.
  • Qualifications in Business, Project Management or equivalent and / or extensive experience in Administration / Human Resource Management
