About the Corporate Communication branch

Corporate Communication leads all external marketing, communication, digital, online and community engagement on behalf of the City of Gold Coast (City). We assist with the public image of the city — locally, nationally and

internationally — through centralised, innovative and value for money activities.

The team is instrumental in protecting city reputation; building our domestic and international reputation; ensuring

the reputation of the organisation is protected; and communicating City services, programs and projects.

 About the position

We’re looking for a motivated and resourceful professional to join our Commercial Media, Sponsorship and Councillor Support team within the Corporate Communication branch to coordinate our Incoming Sponsorship and Banner program.

This role is critical to the delivery of the centralised program and the administration, approval and management of sponsorship or partnership agreements of City of Gold Coast assets.

From time to time may also be required to assist with the delivery of effective and efficient media planning and buying.

The Incoming Sponsorship Officer role will work with a broad range of internal stakeholders across council and its directorates as well as external commercial organisations.

About the program

The City of Gold Coast (Council) provides a wide range of community services and facilities, programs and events, including the maintenance of beaches, roads and walkways, sporting grounds, parks and gardens, community centres, libraries and numerous other community programs.

The Incoming Sponsorship program has been developed to provide centralised, ethical, coordinated approach to seeking, acquiring and managing incoming sponsorships and partnerships.

A Sponsorship Portfolio will be developed annually which will define the opportunities that will be offered to market.

Key deliverables of the position:

·         Incoming Sponsorship Program:

o   Develop the prospectus – take to market, deliver maximum benefit to the city

o   Construction of sponsorship structure and elements – prescribed deliverables and requirements

o   Assessment and coordination – appropriate partnerships, management of internal process

o   Managing agreements and contracts – ensure deliverables, commitments and budgets are met

o   Establish strong relationships – both internally and with prospective client and community groups

o   Central point of contact – provide advice on Sponsorship Policy and Procedure

 

·         Manage and coordinate banner advertising bookings for the use of the city’s light and smart poles:

o   Receive booking requests – assess if appropriate, not for profit, populate smartform

o   Manage artwork – receive art, assess, receive and brief design, manage quote and production, facilitate final art, proof, approvals, notify contractors

o   Quotes and payments – manage receipts, reconcile budgets and payments

o   Promotion – ongoing promotion of program with prospective external customers

 

·         Assistance for Media Planning and Buying:

o   Receiving and interpreting internal briefs

o   Constructing media briefs – build relationships with media

o   Analysing and negotiating responses, contracts and proposals

o   Construction and implementation of media plans

About You

·         Sponsorship and event management experience

·         Stakeholder management – establish strong relationships

·         Project management – strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks

·         Production management – artwork design and brief

·         Excellent communication and negotiating skills

·         Quick learner with ability to become up to speed with background information and provide innovative ideas

·         Customer first mindset with an ability to deliver on our brand promise

·         A respectful team player who enjoys working together to deliver business outcomes

·         Highly adaptable and flexible to changes with can-do attitude

·         Well organised, with great attention to detail and the proven ability to meet deadlines.

·         Ability to use initiative and work as a team.

·         Knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint

·         Media planning and buying experience

The Selection Process

As part of our selection process, you may be required to undertake a one way video interview via SparkHire, and a face to face interview or virtual interview via Mircrosoft Teams or Skype. You may also be required to undertake police checks, employment history checks, qualification checks and drug and alcohol testing in accordance with Australian Standards and Council's procedures.
