About the Position


Corporate Communication leads all external marketing and communication on behalf of the City of Gold Coast. Our focus is on city reputation and aligns with the endorsed City Reputation Strategic Plan and the Gold Coast 2022 (the City's Corporate Plan).


We're looking for an experienced Public Relations specialist to assist with the delivery of media and Communication activities, to meet the operational and project-related needs of the organisation, including developing public relations plans, editing, drafting media messages and responses.


 Key Deliverables of the position:


  • Communicate critical information, including disaster communication, effectively to the public
  • Develop and deliver public relations plans for Council projects, programs and services
  • Identify proactive media opportunities
  • Demonstrate a high degree of competence in issues management and providing advice on this. 
  • Draft critical messages and arrange interviews for official spokespersons
  • Respond to requests for information from media outlets
  • Help maintain and uphold the image and identity of the organisation
  • Proactively review corporate documents to provide advice on public perceptions and maximise opportunities to improve the City's reputation
  • Exercise a high degree of protocol management regarding activities of a sensitive nature.
  • Assist with the review and update of relevant Council policies and guidelines
  • Participate in an on-call roster
