About the Position

An opportunity exists within the Business and Program Management branch of City Infrastructure, to assist the Directorate in the establishment of its holistic business planning, improvement and reporting functions. This position will work closely with the Directorate Management Team to develop operational strategies and business plans as well as monitor and report on the Directorate’s business outcomes.  This position will implement and drive business improvement opportunities to deliver business value for the Directorate. The position is responsible for the supervision and leadership of a team, producing quality, value-add services to the Directorate.

Key Deliverables of the position:

  • Facilitate the development of key planning and business reporting activities across the Directorate and its Branches
  • Facilitate, influence and support the business in the coordination, measurement, management and maintenance of information and key performance measures pertaining to the delivery of directorate, branch and team plans.
  • Facilitate the development of Agreements between business areas to ensure the efficient delivery of services and ensure the ongoing monitoring of Agreements within the Directorate.
  • Develop, mentor and motivate staff to ensure business improvement projects, tasks and functions are delivered effectively , efficiently and on time, using a defined project management methodology.
  • Ensure accurate and timely business analysis and monthly reporting and make recommendations to support effective management decision making.
  • Ensure the Directorate has an effective and efficient quality management system to manage guidelines, processes, work instructions and other supporting documentation
  • Build and form strong working relationships across the business to support the delivery of effective and efficient processes
  • Actively lead and manage workplace change through facilitation, organising, planning and executing workplace changes
  • Make a positive contribution and beneficial difference to the business by continuously improving the way we do things
  • Develop and embed a value add perception of the business improvement team within the organisation

About You

  • You have a qualification in Business and/or Project Management and/or equivalent knowledge and experience in these fields.
  • You have extensive experience in leading, coaching, developing and motivating staff to achieve effective business outcomes.
  • You have experience in managing organisational change and its impacts to staff.
  • You have well-developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills including the ability to:
    • facilitate continual improvement activities with key internal/external stakeholders
    • facilitate workshops and presentations across the Directorate and for the senior management team
    • mentor and coach staff
    • manage staff performance issues
    • influence change management activities
    • prepare detailed correspondence, guidelines, work instructions and reports
  • You have a passion to drive and lead a team to success in the delivery of continual improvement business practices.
