About the Position

Located in our Water and Waste Directorate, the System Control Branch is responsible for the operation, maintenance and management of the active assets associated with the sewerage pumping system, treatment plants, water pump stations, pressure control sites, reservoirs and associated plant and equipment.

The Systems Control Engineer is pivotal to the operation, maintenance, development and continuous improvement of our Network & Plant Control Systems.  The position is responsible for ongoing system performance enhancements, commissioning and testing primarily of our SCADA System, whilst supporting other technologies and functions.  

Key deliverables of the position:

  • Design review, minor project management and commission control systems (PLC/DCS) with a low level of supervision, aided by internal and external resources.
  • Ensure Projects to augment SCADA systems fit within the existing framework.
  • Prepare documentation, technical reporting, assist with cost estimates and budgets where required especially for augmentation of the Sewage Treatment Plant capacity improvements.
  • Design, test and implement continuous improvement pathways for analysing SCADA outputs.
  • Recommend and develop product and/or process changes in order to improve system performance or to better satisfy customer or other user needs. Review and analyse specified problems and issues to identify best technical solutions to meet customer requirements and to improve ways of working within own responsible area
  • Provide leadership to work teams and maintain currency in SCADA technologies

The Selection Process

As part of our selection process, you may be required to undertake a one way video interview via SparkHire, and a face to face interview or virtual interview via Skype. You may also be required to undertake police checks, employment history checks, qualification checks and drug and alcohol testing in accordance with Australian Standards and Council's procedures.

Essential: Do you have Tertiary qualification in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Process, IT or approved equivalent), or Technical Trade qualifications in a relevant discipline? Detail your qualifications.
Essential: Does your experience include a minimum of 5 years hands on system engineering experience, including the programming or supervising of programming IEC61131 based languages, within an operational working environment? Please outline your experience.

Essential: Do you have a General Construction Induction Card (White Card)? Please note: to perform the duties of the position it is a mandatory requirement to hold a white card, however if you do not currently hold one your application will be accepted.
