About the position

This position will work in the Network Intelligence and Transport Systems unit, planning and implementing data-driven transport solutions in the City. The successful candidate will use their specialist, technical expertise and project management skills for network optimisation and enhanced traveller information; supporting implementation of the Transport Strategy and optimising performance of the transport network.

Key deliverables of the position:

  • Development of policies and procedures that support the adoption of future transport technologies.
  • Planning for network operations and disruptions such as major events, incidents and road works.
  • Development of messaging strategies to enhance traveller information.
  • Analysis of the Gold Coast transport network and development of operational performance targets.
  • Develop and lead the Network Intelligence team to efficient transport outcomes including setting Network Operations policy and direction.
  • Collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders including Transport and Main Roads and other South East Queensland Councils.
  • Support the Coordinator (Network Intelligence and Transport Systems) and Executive Coordinator (Strategic Operations).
  • Work co-operatively with other senior members of the Transport and Traffic branch.

About Transport and Traffic branch

Transport and Traffic is responsible for the planning, operational management and delivery of enhancements to the City of Gold Coast’s transport network. With around 150 staff across four units, the branch oversees an annual budget in excess of $110 million to deliver capital works, supporting operational projects and planning initiatives.

Transport and Traffic works under the strategic intent of the City of Gold Coast’s Corporate Plan and implements the Gold Coast City Transport Strategy 2031. This framework seeks to ensure the city has a safe and efficient transport system which is responsive to the needs of the community and supports the achievement of economic, environmental and social objectives.

The branch works closely with many delivery partners, including the City’s development and land use planning teams and the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads to plan and manage the transport system as 'one network'.

Transport and Infrastructure directorate is ultimately here to deliver quality infrastructure and services that align with the broader organisation vision and purpose.
