About the Position

You will assist with the administration, use and supervision of various community, sporting and recreational facilities through the delivery of a range of projects and services in accordance with the City's aims and objectives.

During the employment term, there will be a potential opportunity to be seconded into higher duties during extended leave coverage. This will entail you to be responsible for the effective planning, development and operation of community, sport and recreation facilities under limited direction from the Coordinator Recreational Services. It will also require supervision of staff to ensure they are adequately supported and mentored to develop improved skills and more effectively deliver professionally managed projects and services.

Key deliverables of the position:

  • Project manage and deliver a diverse range of projects of varying complexity in the community, sport and recreation field on time and within budget.
  • Provide advice and assistance to non-profit community, recreational and sporting groups/organisations
  • Identify and assess data in order to facilitate the planning and delivery of short, medium and long term goals in the administration of City controlled community, recreation and sporting facilities
  • Delegate projects and related tasks to subordinate staff and ensure that they are adequately supported and mentored to develop improved skills and more effectively deliver professionally managed projects and services;
  • Develop and maintain open and transparent working relationships and effective communication between Recreational Services and internal / external customers

About You

  • Ability to initiate, formulate, implement, monitor and evaluate strategies, policies, procedures, services, programs, techniques and guidelines to ensure the delivery of desired recreational outcomes for the City.
  • Advanced interpersonal and communication skills with particular emphasis in the areas of consultation, negotiation, influencing, conflict resolution and assertiveness to resolve technical and other issues and meet the changing organisational needs relevant to the work area;
  • Well developed analytical, problem solving and investigative skills with the ability to initiate, formulate, implement, monitor and evaluate new strategies, policies, procedures, services, programs, techniques, methodologies and guidelines that will deliver desired recreational outcomes for Council;
  • Ability to handle matters of a confidential nature, incorporating a degree of judgement and initiative
