About the Position

The position will provide technical, legislative and project management support to the Health and Regulatory Services Branch for a wide range of environmental health and regulatory matters.

The position will be responsible for:

  • Leading and delivering business improvements and technical projects for the Branch.
  • The provision of technical advice to the Senior Leadership Team and the Branch regarding emerging issues and projects.
  • Assessment of legislation and policy amendments and coordinating change implementation for the Branch. 
  • Stakeholder coordination across a diverse and complex set of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Managing a complex and diverse workload.

About You

To be successful in the position, you will require:

  • A qualification in Environmental Health accredited by Environmental Health Australia (EHA), and significant experience, preferably within a local government environment.
  • Project management experience gained in a role with a diverse and challenging workload.
  • High level interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) with particular emphasis on negotiation and stakeholder management.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide technical advice and report on complex matters.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects whilst ensuring resources are used efficiently and milestones are met.
  • People management skills and/or experience would be highly regarded (but is not essential).

The Selection Process

As part of our selection process, you may be required to undertake a one way video interview via SparkHire, and a face to face interview or virtual interview via Mircrosoft Teams or Skype. You may also be required to undertake police checks, employment history checks, qualification checks and drug and alcohol testing in accordance with Australian Standards and Council's procedures.

Essential: Do you possess a tertiary qualification (or equivalent) accredited by Environmental Health Australia (EHA) and substantial experience, preferably within a local government regulatory environment. Please provide details.
Desirable: Describe your high level written and interpersonal communication skills, including your ability to negotiate and consult with stakeholders.
Desirable: Describe your experience in providing expert technical advice, policy and report development, and proficiency in interpreting and applying legislation and guidelines.
Desirable: Describe your experience managing projects and business improvements initiatives, preferably in a local government regulatory environment.
Desirable: Describe your people management skills and/or experience.
