Medical Officer / Senior Registrar Ophthalmology
Full Time positions commencing February 2023
(12 month period)
The Royal Victorian Eye & Ear Hospital is part of a state-wide teaching, training and research health service specialising in eye, ear, and throat medicine. The Hospital celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2013 and is Australia’s only specialist eye and ear Hospital and one of only 20 or so worldwide.
The Medical Officer will provide an in-hours and out-of-hours service to the hospital in the Emergency Department and general and specialist ophthalmology clinics. There may be an opportunity to undertake unsupervised cataract surgery depending on experience. Your role will include significant teaching and supervising of junior medical staff in our Emergency Department during weekdays and weekends. On-call/re-call will be required.
Successful applicants have usually completed at least 4 years of ophthalmology residency prior to commencing a Medical Officer role and have passed the RACE or equivalent.
Salary and conditions of employment will be in accordance with the Australian Medical Association (Victoria) Doctors-in-Training Agreement 2018-2021
