The Provisional Fellowships commencing  February / August 2021. 

Six or 12 month appointments will be considered.

The Royal Victorian Eye & Ear Hospital is a world leader in the provision of eye, ear, nose and throat services, education, research and health promotion for the community. Our mission is to provide highly specialised care by setting international standards of quality, innovation and efficiency.

The accredited Provisional Fellowship in Anaesthesia is for doctors with their specialist qualification or who are in the final year of their training. For Australian trainees, individual validation with ANZCA is required for all Provisional Fellowship positions.  There is a strong collegiate ethos which provides an excellent breadth of experience and learning support for a Fellow interested in consolidating their professional skills in the RVEEH subspecialties.

A full range of ophthalmic anaesthesia is practiced along with substantial throughput of Ear, Nose and Throat work, which includes anaesthesia for otology, including cochlear implants (an area in which The Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital is a world leader), rhinology, and throat and neck surgery. There is also be exposure to paediatric cases down to the age of two years.  There is a weekly Preadmission clinic and seven theatre lists per week.  The Department has 50 VMO Specialists with a particular interest in Ophthalmic and ENT anaesthesia to cover eight operating theatres. Provision is made in the roster for participation in educational/research activities.

Salary and conditions of employment will be in accordance with the AMA Victoria Doctors-in-Training Enterprise Agreement 2018-2021.
