About the role


DHSV has a number of vacancies available for highly motivated, qualified and experienced Dental Assistants to work casually at the Royal Dental Hospital of Melbourne. This is a great opportunity to further develop your dental assisting skills whilst working within a fast paced and friendly team. Vacancies are available from Monday to Friday within General Practice/Primary Care, Dental Teaching Clinic, Specialist Care and Surgery departments.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Clinical chair-side assisting with a Dentist and / or Specialist
  • Preparing, maintaining and managing the clinical environment, including equipment, materials and instruments, in line with the treatment plan, to enhance efficient patient throughput
  • Providing oral health education and promotion to our patients

To be successful in this role you will have the following: 

  • Certificate III in Dental Assisting or Certificate in Dental Nursing (Please note: Overseas trained dentist must have a qualification in Dental Assisting)
  • 12+ months experience with chair-side assisting in General Practice
  • 2+ years experience with chair-side assisting in Specialist Care
  • Ability to work autonomously and take initiative
  • Well-developed communication skills

Our Dental Assistants have the opportunity to further their education beyond the initial Certificate III in Dental Assisting.
