We are a dynamic public library service in the west with over two million visits each year. The libraries are based at Sunshine, St Albans, Deer Park, Sydenham and Keilor. Brimbank Libraries offer a range of services and programs to the community to support lifelong learning, literacy and community development.
About the role
The Brimbank Libraries seeks a collaborative, innovative, dynamic, and services-oriented Community IT Librarian to ensure that library systems and services support and enhance community experience and learning. Primary responsibilities include system administration of the main library management system (KOHA), other enterprise applications, and seamless integration of all electronic library services. The Community IT Librarian supports and oversees various technology-related projects. This position is an exceptional opportunity to work and grow in a dynamic library serving a diverse community.
This position provides excellent front facing customer service and as part of the Community IT team is responsible for:
- Maintaining and supporting (in collaboration with Systems Team Leader) the library's inventory of computers, kiosk, scanners, touch monitors, Library Management System (KOHA) and related technologies hardware and software
- Supporting staff and community in the use of technology
- Designing and delivering training programs
- which build staff skills in using technology and responding to IT issues
- supporting customer in the use of technology
- delivering group and one on one training programs for community and staff
- working collaboratively to successfully delivering projects outcomes
- project managing tasks as directed by the Library Systems Team Leader
- delivering face to face customer service
- leading, supporting and motivating others
About You
You will have a Bachelor's degree or higher in Librarianship, Information technology and / or a related IT field with the ability to thrive in an environment with constant public contact with people from all backgrounds and age groups. You will have exceptional ICT and communication skills including the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, interact with members of the community and the ability to provide technology training to staff and community.
What you'll need to succeed
- Demonstrated experience in developing, delivering, evaluating and reviewing technology based programs and events, including community learning workshops and programs to diverse audiences.
- Demonstrate a commitment to customer service and an enthusiasm for identifying new opportunities to enhance library services
- Demonstrated IT knowledge with skills in problem solving in an online and systems environment
- Demonstrated experience in project management skills with an ability to manage vendors, work effectively in team setting and prioritise own tasks
- Proven ability to thrive in a busy environment working with a diverse community
- Proven stakeholder engagement and communication skill, able to engage with people of all ages and able to assist people who have English as a second language
- Proven ability to demonstrate positive attitude, excellent interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity and a sense of humour in working with customers, co-workers and community
