An exciting opportunity exists for a highly motivated, experienced and progressive professional to join Brimbank City Council to lead and coordinate the Libraries Unit.
This new position has been created following the recent expansion the Community Learning & Participation Department that now comprises four units: Libraries, Learning, Neighbourhood Houses and Arts & Culture.
Brimbank Libraries provide high quality services to a diverse community from five public libraries and an online library. The successful candidate will:
- Lead, manage and coordinate the Libraries Unit
- Lead evidence based business planning and reporting
- Oversee the strategic development of community focussed library collections, services, programs and systems ensuring best practice
- Undertake effective stakeholder consultation and engagement to continuously improve library services
- Coordinate the implementation of the Library Strategy 2015-2020
- Work with the Manager on library building redevelopments
As a person committed to delivering community first outcomes, you will have:
- Relevant tertiary and/or post graduate qualifications with eligibility for professional membership of the Australian Library and Information Association
- Proven experience in motivating and leading diverse teams
- Substantial experience at a senior level, introducing and leading change in a complex environment
- Proven ability to think strategically and make sound decisions
- Good business acumen
- Demonstrated project management skills as well as the ability to develop high level strategic plans which translate into practical and achievable community and organisational outcomes
