Youth Conselling and Support Officer

Brimbank City Council’s Youth Services Team is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated staff member who shares Council's commitment to delivering quality youth counselling and wellbeing programs to join the Wellbeing and Belonging team.

 This position provides short to medium term generalist counselling and group support programs to young people in a range of settings throughout the City of Brimbank. Candidates will have a degree and/or masters qualification and several years experience in counselling, psychology or social work and have proven experience in providing individual support and counselling to young people and families.

A proven experience in planning, implementing and evaluating youth support programs in varied settings, as well as confident decision making and problem solving skills.

A sound knowledge and understanding of YACVic's Code of Ethical Practice is essential.

This is a temporary part time position til 24 December 2020.

Selection Criteria Essential: Relevant Degree and/or Masters Qualification and several years experience in Youth Work, Counselling, Psychology or Social Work or related discipline;

Essential: Demonstrated knowledge of counselling theories and practice;

Essential: Demonstrated experience in the provision of generalist counselling to young people and their families (where required) using a range of therapeutic techniques;

Desirable: Demonstrated knowledge in the design, implementation and facilitation of therapeutic groups, and community capacity building projects;

Essential: Sound practice in maintaining case records, report writing, collating data and analysing statistical information and understanding of evaluative frameworks;
