Position Summary

 

Council's Economic Development Unit has an exciting position available with a focus on the development and delivery of strategic initiatives and projects which will contribute to increased local employment opportunities for Brimbank residents.

The successful applicant will:

  • Coordinate the development and delivery of a program to promote local jobs for local people.
  • Assist in the development of strategies to facilitate employment outcomes in Brimbank associated with the delivery of Airport Rail Link and Sunshine Super Hub, and other major investments in the Sunshine Priority Precinct.
  • Develop strategic partnerships to support employment pathways and local employment including the Transform Brimbank Jobs Agenda.
  • Develop and maintain internal and external stakeholder’s relationships to develop the capacity of agencies and relevant networks in Brimbank.
  • Improve resident access to employment pathways and resources in Brimbank through the development and implementation of integrated, cross-sectoral partnerships.
  • Promote and facilitate innovative approaches amongst external stakeholders including support agencies and employers to increase local employment opportunities in Brimbank.
  • Develop an effective relationship with State and Federal Government Departments engaged in the employment space.

The successful applicant will have appropriate tertiary qualifications and relevant experience in Employment Services, Project Management, Engagement and Marketing, or relevant industry and private sector experience.

This is a 3 year contract position, working 36 hours per week with a monthly RDO.

Selection Criteria Essential: Appropriate tertiary qualifications with several years of relevant experience in Employment Services, Project Management, Engagement and Marketing, or relevant industry and private sector experience.

Desirable: Demonstrated knowledge or experience in linking and liaising with training and employment networks and people.

Desirable: Demonstrated skills and experience in planning, management and delivery of employment programs and projects to achieve outcomes for a diverse range of individuals, groups and organisations.

Desirable: Demonstrated ability to gain cooperation and assistance from a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders including government agencies, community, service providers to achieve outcomes.

Desirable: Extensive skills and knowledge of employment, learning and training practices, labour market issues, growth industries and labour market trends, government policy and relevant legislation.

Desirable: Demonstrated skills and experience in addressing barriers to participation in learning and employment.

Desirable: Ability to gain cooperation and communicate effectively, both verbally, electronically and in written form (including reports, briefings, graphics and visual communication), to a broad range of stakeholders from diverse backgrounds and cultures.

Desirable: Current Driver’s Licence.
