Position Summary |
Brimbank City Council is seeking an experienced Communications specialist to lead a team of communications, PR, digital, civic engagement and graphic design professionals to promote Council, Council services and organisational strategic objectives.
In this challenging role you will lead the delivery of effective, targeted, relevant and creative communications and community engagement campaigns and tactics across traditional and digital platforms.
With extensive commercial or government experience, you complement strong campaign management, community engagement and corporate communications expertise with a strong creative streak. Combined with the ability to motivate and influnce at all levels and to work across multiple projects with competing deadlines, you are able to drive a high performance culture. Political acumen, sound decision making and a desire to deliver outstanding community results are essential attributes of the successful candidate.
Please note this is a temporary 12 month position due to maternity leave.

Selection Criteria |
Essential: Do you have a tertiary qualification in public relations, communications, marketing, advertising, journalism or extensive relevant experience is essential for this role?
Essential: Do you have excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to lead, influence and advise a wide range of internal and external stakeholders on communications or community relations issues in a multi-disciplinary environment?
Essential: Do you have superior oral and written communication skills, and the ability to advise and support executive managers and Councillors in regard to community relations, communications, media liaison and publications?
Essential: Do you have demonstrated experience in the development of creative, innovative communication and branding strategies and campaigns, with experience in targeting culturally diverse communities considered an advantage?
Essential: Do you have demonstrated ability to prepare responses to issues and to develop implement and manage public relations and communications and branding strategies and plans?
Essential: Do you have highly developed time management skills, including the ability to plan and complete multiple time-sensitive tasks?
Essential: Do you have experience in leading and managing staff delivering a range of services with in a multi-disciplinary environment?
Essential: Do you have the ability to define appropriate KPIs, analyse and report on campaign and tactical efficacy?
Essential: Do you have the ability to conceive, develop and deliver community engagement campaigns that drive significant public participation, and derive valuable data and insights? |
