About Brimbank Libraries

Brimbank Libraries is a dynamic public library service in the west with libraries based at Sunshine, St Albans, Deer Park, Sydenham and Keilor.

Our libraries are busy vibrant places and we have over two million visits each year.

Brimbank Libraries offers a range of service and programs to the community to support literacy, lifelong learning and community connections.

 

About the role

This customer service role works across our five libraries with rostered shifts covering all opening hours, including evenings and weekends.

We are seeking enthusiastic and energetic candidates who enjoy helping customers find and borrow items, keep the library tidy and well presented, assist customers in using technology from basic computer problems to using social media and mobile devices.

The role is currently based at Deer Park Library and may be required to work at any of our 5 libraries.

 

About you

You are a motivated, energetic individual with a strong background in customer service and are passionate about libraries.

You have experience in a customer service role and great IT skills. You thrive working in an environment with constant public contact with people from all backgrounds and age groups.

Your skills include:

  • Strength in leading, supporting and motivating others
  • An ability to thrive in a busy environment working with a diverse community
  • As a great communicator you are able to engage with people of all ages and  able to assist people who have English as a second language
  • Ability to demonstrate positive attitude, excellent interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity and a sense of humour in working with customers, co-workers and community 
  • Excellent IT skills with an ability to share knowledge and support community users of technology including social media, e-resources and mobile devices
  • Demonstrated skills in readers advising and provision of reference services
  • Understanding of the importance and value of programs that support lifelong learning and literacy

Selection Criteria Essential: Are you experienced in working in a face to face customer service environment supporting a diverse community

Essential: Are you a digital native with great skills in using technology including Pcs, mobile devices, social media and able to troubleshoot problems and find solutions?

Essential: Do you have skills and experience in delivering programs or activities in a community setting?
