Health Information Services (HIS) provides a range of services for Bendigo Health including access to patient information system, casemix and coding, freedom of information, medical records form design and records standards, medical transcription service, requests for medical records/request for other information and privacy.

This position will be a key supporting role for the management of Health Information Services including providing staff management and leadership, continued development medical records in the electronic environment and patient information management system, to support the effective and efficient health care delivery and strategic business objectives of Bendigo Health.  Additionally the position will have the option for ICD-10-AM coding of inpatient episodes and participate in casemix related activities.

Selection Criteria
Essential:
01.A tertiary qualification in Health Information Management and eligible for membership of the Health Information Management Association of Australia (HIMMA).

Desirable:
02.Demonstrated ability to effectively manage a staff group and model the behaviour expected of others.

Desirable:
03.Experience and exposure to the development of Health Information Management expertise specifically in paper and electronic record management, forms design and the development and implementation of associated appropriate policies, procedures and guidelines.

Desirable:
04.Demonstrated knowledge of health information reporting, privacy, security and confidentiality legislation.

Desirable:
05.Demonstrated ability to provide expert advice on Health Information Management practices to stakeholders.

Desirable:
06.Demonstrated clinical coding experience with competency to code in mid to high level casemix.

Desirable:
07.Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills that will cultivate productive working relationships, resolve workplace conflict, facilitate co-operation and guide, mentor and develop people.
