Mental Health team

Bendigo Health Mental Health Services is a complex service that provides psychiatric care and treatment across a large catchment area in Victoria stretching from Swan Hill in the north of the state to Gisborne in the south. Services are provided to a range of clients, including patients, families and carers, General Practitioners and other members of the broader mental health service system. A range of clinical services is provided to patients across all ages through dedicated programs.

Position

Reporting to the Manager, Residential Rehabilitation (Dual Diagnosis), you will provide supervision of staff to ensure that nursing staff undertake nursing assessments and develop independent treatment/recovery plans for patients. This includes the supervision and liaising with other multi-disciplinary staff involved with the patients care. You will provide clinical supervision to ward staff and allocate tasks on the basis of the staff’s designation, and to meet the standard of nursing care in the unit as defined by the Bendigo Health policies & procedures. In the absence of the Unit Manager, co-ordinate and oversee the provision of non-nursing functions and activities to ensure that the relevant standards are met.   • Experience in working in drug and alcohol settings or with people who are affected by alcohol and or other drugs.
  • Ability to liaise and consult with relevant family members, team members and a broad range of health professionals and community agencies
  • Well-developed verbal, written, interpersonal, communication and computer literacy skills and knowledge
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Proven leadership skills

Selection Criteria
Essential:
01.Current registration as a Registered Nurse Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency

Desirable:
02.Additional qualifications, or working toward, in AOD withdrawal/or related field

Essential:
03.Experience in working in drug and alcohol settings or with people who are affected by alcohol and or other drugs.
