Position Summary

Title: Lead Clinician
Department: Older Persons Community Mental Health
Classification: RPN3 Y1- RPN3 Y4 /ANUM Y2, OCC THER GR2 YR1, OCC THER GR2 YR4, SW GR2 YR1, SW GR2 YR4 
Salary: As per experience level
Hours: 80 hours per fortnight with ADO (Accrued Days off)
Status: Fulltime ongoing

The Mental Health Service is a complex service that provides psychiatric care and treatment across a large catchment area in Victoria stretching from Swan Hill in the north of the state to Gisborne in the south. The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service provides services to patients from birth to 17 years, the Youth Team covers ages 18 to 24 years, Adult Services cover patients from 25 to 64 years and the Older Person’s Service manages those individuals over 65 years old. 

 

The position:

 

The position is with the Older Persons Community Mental Health Team (OPCMHT). In the context of an integrated community mental health team, and under the direction of the Manager and team Psychiatrist(s), the community mental health lead clinician will provide psychiatric triage, intake, assessment and treatment, psycho-education and support for patients of Psychiatric Services and their families /carer(s). Selection Criteria
Essential:
01.• Post graduate qualifications in mental health and/or related field, or commitment towards completing same.

Essential:
02.• Demonstrated experience and ability in community based assessment, support and treatment of people with a mental illness and associated complex issues

Essential:
03.• Sound knowledge of the Mental Health Act 2014, the relevant state-wide Psychiatric Service Frameworks Procedures and Guidelines and Bendigo Health policy and procedures

Essential:
04.• Demonstrated experience in, and commitment to, an integrated community based treatment model for people with a mental illness and associated complex issues

Essential:
05.• Proven ability to liaise and consult with relevant family members, team members, and a broad range of health professionals and community agencies

Essential:
06.• Commitment to an integrated community-based treatment model for people with a mental illness

Essential:
07.• High level of organisational, leadership, communication and interpersonal skills

Essential:
08.• Evidence of a commitment to ongoing professional development and compliance with all Bendigo Health mandatory training requirements
