The Architecture and Applications Team

The Architecture and Applications team is tasked with both strategic and operational duties.  Setting the architecture for the organisation across all business areas, leading digital transformation and integration of systems and digital content. The organisation has over 200 applications that are maintained, patched and administered by the team.

The team also has duties of business engagement, customer service and business communication, with a wide range of key stakeholders and users.

The Position:

Reporting to the Manager of Architecture and Applications you will be accountable for managing and maintaining a range of Microsoft SQL servers, including installation and configuration; backup and restore; patching and tuning.

The purpose of the Database Specialist position is to support Bendigo Health software and applications using sound, relevant and advanced database administration skills. The position is also responsible for database management, maintenance, installations and optimisation.  

This role may require, from time to time, the successful applicant to work non-standard business hours with occasional travel required.

Selection Criteria
01.Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology or equivalent industry qualification.

02.At least five years' experience in database administration

03.Demonstrate experience in maintaining databases for a large organisation - including backup, restore, updates and best practice design principles

04.Demonstrated diagnostic skills in database administration, including performance analysis and tuning

05.Demonstrated track record of accurate and thorough system documentation

06.Capable of performing SQL Server patching, migration, disaster recovery and high availability

07.Proven ability to monitor consumer and stakeholder satisfaction constructively and respond flexibly to consumer needs

08.Demonstrated learning agility

09.Capable of meeting deadlines, schedules, set goals/objectives

10.Negotiate and implement well-planned courses of action to achieve specific outcomes

11.Understand and meets the needs of target audiences (i.e. the right information to the right people)
