Bendigo Health is the regional referral and trauma center for a region that extends from Woodend to southern NSW and is committed to delivering world class healthcare to our community.

There is emphasis on a practical, hands on approach to junior doctor training and we aim to foster excellent clinical exposure across a range of specialties. 

The new Bendigo Hospital opened in January 2017 and is the largest regional hospital development in Victoria. Bendigo Health delivers a world-class regional hospital incorporating the latest design and technology solutions, in a tranquil and caring environment.

The new facilities include 372 inpatient beds, 72 same-day beds, 11 new operating theatres, a regional cancer center, an 80-bed integrated mental health facility, a mother-and-baby unit, a helipad and parking for 1350 vehicles.


This GP Registrar post is fulltime for 12 months. You will have the opportunity to work in a large regional Obstetrics and Gynaecology service and enhance your procedural skills in women’s health, under appropriate supervision. You will be involved in the complete maternity care of patients, working with individuals prior to, during and after pregnancy, while also attending at the birthing suite. Over the 12 months you will develop core skills in O&G in preparation for further formal specialist training and a future specialist career in O&G, and/or additional competency in O&G scope of practice.

Selection Criteria
01.Must be enrolled in or intending to enrol in a General Practice Education and Training Program (FACRRM or FRACGP and FARGP).

02.Minimum of PGY3 at commencement of term

03.Must be registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia

04.Demonstrated commitment to rural practice and rural communities.

05.Demonstrated appropriate level experience and skills in women’s health

06.An interest in advanced skills training in Obstetrics & Gynaecology

07.Thorough understanding of the relevant legislation pertaining to Medical Officers

08.High level interpersonal and communication skills
